Getting ready to go to China!

Our early posts will be about who we are, and about our preparations to travel to China to meet our new friends. At the right is a photo of our traveling group; Mel, from the Menands Rotary Club, and Helen, Frank and Larry from the Rotary Club of Glenville. For anyone reading this who is not familiar with our area, both towns are in the Albany, NY area. Menands lies just to the north of Albany, and Glenville is west, and a little north of Schenectady.

We came to be involved in this project through Rotary, and the Rotary Foundation will pay for our travel expenses so that we can assess the viability of several proposed projects. Please visit the Rotary website at http://www.rotary.org/

We will depart Albany on a Delta flight to Atlanta early on April 6, 2008. From Atlanta, we will fly directly to Shanghai, where we will arrive mid-day Monday. There is a 12 hour time difference, and our flight from Atlanta to Shanghai is 15 hours and 40 minutes.

We will meet our Shanghai Rotary counterparts and join them for their meeting on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, we will fly to Yinchuan, the capital of the NingXia Hui autonomous region. Keep reading, we'll tell you more about the area as we progress!!
